Fuel price increases in July! CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, and MSC adjust export rates for Far Eastern routes | Maritime Export Logistics

Recently, a number of shipping companies have issued pricing adjustment notices, covering several routes and various cost changes, as follows:
Delta: imposes peak season surcharge
Dassault ships issued a notice to impose, until further notice, a peak season surcharge of $250 per TEU for all cargo originating in the Far East (including China, Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia) with Durban, South Africa as its destination, beginning on 15 July 2025. For goods outside of China, this fee shall be subject to approval of flights to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and / or include shipping costs.
Hapag-lloyd: Rate Hike on Far East to West Coast of South America
Hapag-lloyd announced that, effective July 8, 2025, the Far East to the west coast of South America, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean route general rates will be increased, effective July 25, 2025, Puerto Rico and the USVI. The specific adjustments are as follows:
Far East to West Coast of South America and West Coast of Mexico:
Current rates 20 'DRY: $2100, 40' DRY: $2400, 40 'NOR: $2100.
New rates 20 'DRY: $2,600, 40' DRY: $3,400, 40 'NOR: $3,100.
Far East to the west coast of Central America (including the Central American Exclusion Zone):
Current rates 20 'DRY: $3,600, 40' DRY: $4,000, 40 'NOR: $3,800.
New rates 20 'DRY: $4,100, 40' DRY: $5,000, 40 'NOR: $4,800.
Far East to the Caribbean (including Panama):
Current rates 20 'DRY: $5,200, 40' DRY: $5,700, 40 'NOR: $5,200.
New rates 20 'DRY: $5,700, 40' DRY: $6,700, 40 'NOR: $6,200.
The increase of $500 per TEU applies to services from the Far East to the South American West Coast and the Caribbean (base and export ports).
The Far East covers China, Macao, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and Brunei; The West Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean covers Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and United States Virgin Islands.
MSC: Adjustment of freight rates on the Far East to Northern Europe route
MSC announced that from July 1 to July 14, 2025, cargo from ports in the Far East to northern European ports will be subject to a new freight rate (FAK) of $2,580 / TEU and $4,300 / FEU, compared to the previous freight rate of $2,340 / TUE and $3,900 / FUE. The new freight standard includes the base freight, as well as the Global Fuel Surcharge (GFS) and Emission Control Area Charge (ECA).
ANL: Restoring rates from places like Asia to Australia and New Zealand
ANL said it would implement rate restoration for shipments from Asia, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to Australia and New Zealand. The recovery rates are enforced at $500 per 20 ft dry / chilled container and $1,000 per 40 ft dry and chilled containers, applying to existing spot and FAK exchange rates, and all surcharges effective at shipment.
