Breaking News! United States: Ban on Trade with China | Maritime Export Logistics
Jun 17,2025

Recently, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview that China's investment in Hungary is huge, while the United States' investment in Hungary has been relatively small. He pointed out that the United States cannot on the one hand trade with China and on the other ask Hungary not to trade with China.
Orban posted the interview on his official YouTube account on June 13. "The U.S. has very little investment in Hungary, while China has a lot of investment in Hungary," he told the host. "We are also trying to attract U.S." investment.
"Trade is good for us, but the U.S. cannot ask us not to develop trade with China, especially when the U. S. is doing business with China itself," Mr. Orban stressed.
The United States has previously restricted other countries' trade with China. In April, the Trump administration was preparing to pressure other countries to restrict trade with China, according to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter. The United States may ask its trade representatives negotiating with it to impose so-called secondary tariffs on countries with close ties to China, according to people familiar with the matter.
Mexican officials expect the United States to ask them to raise tariffs on Chinese electric cars. Dozens of countries are negotiating with the U.S. for tariff relief, and the U. S. wants them not to buy Chinese goods to limit China's manufacturing power, Bloomberg said.
In addition, the United States has extended the travel ban. A US State Department memo obtained by The Washington Post shows that the US is considering restricting entry into the US of citizens from 36 other countries, which would significantly extend the travel ban announced by the Trump administration earlier this month, China News Service reported.
The list of additional countries includes 25 African countries (such as key U.S. partners such as Egypt and Djibouti), several Caribbean countries, and several Asian and Pacific island countries. The memo requires governments of the countries on the list to meet the new U.S. State Department criteria and requirements within 60 days and to submit a preliminary plan of action within the specified time frame.
Previously, the United States has announced comprehensive restrictions on entry to the United States for citizens of 12 countries, including Afghanistan, Myanmar, Iran and Yemen, and partial restrictions for citizens from seven countries, Burundi, citing "national security."
