US Line: Peak season ahead! Fares may reach $7,000 in June and July! | Shipping and export logistics

Shenzhen's Yantian port accounts for more than a quarter of China's export volume to the United States. Recently, the intake of a cargo bulk warehouse near Yantian port increased from more than 120 containers to more than 200, an increase of more than 60%, highlighting the current high demand for freight.

This has been accompanied by higher freight rates on various routes. According to the latest data of SCFI, the comprehensive freight index reached 1586.12 points, up 7.21% weekly.

Among them, the freight rate from Shanghai to the United States and Spain is $3275 / FEU, up 5.95%;

To the United States East $4284 / FEU, up 5.28%;

To Europe $1,317 / TEU, up 14.12%;

To the Mediterranean tariff $2,328 / TEU, up 11.82%.

Several shipping companies, including MOSCOW, Maritime Network Shipping, and Changrong Shipping, have announced increases in prices, which are expected to reach $6,000 / TEU on the US Western Line and $7,000 / TUE on the US East Line, which has doubled from earlier this year.

According to analysts, previous redeployment of capacity and empty space to other routes has strained capacity on the US route and pushed up freight rates. At present, many shipping companies are actively responding by introducing new routes, restoring old ones and adding temporary overtime vessels to ease capacity pressure.

At present, it is especially crucial for foreign trade enterprises to seize the opportunity for shipments, especially before the peak season in the third quarter. Analysts predict this trend will continue through the end of August, with freight rates likely to continue climbing rapidly to high levels until the end of June before the increase slows.
