Recently, the Houthi forces claimed responsibility for the attack on the merchant vessel MAGIC SEAS, and the following day, another bulk carrier, the Eternity C, was also attacked off the coast of Yemen. According to a report by Cosmoship Management, a Greek management company, the vessel was under attack by drones and small boats while en route to Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia.
The “Eternity C” is a bulk carrier built in 2012 and currently flying the flag of Liberia. The attack resulted in the destruction of its engines, the disruption of its communication systems, and the vessel drifting uncontrollably. Out of the 22 crew members on board, 2 were injured and 2 are missing, while the remaining 18 crew members are safe.
According to Ambrey, a maritime security agency, the vessel's characteristics align with the criteria for an attack by Houthi militants. This attack comes after the "MAGIC SEAS" was targeted the previous day, marking an escalation in Houthi maritime operations.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office (UKMTO) issued a warning stating that on July 7, a vessel was attacked by five rocket-propelled grenades approximately 51 nautical miles northwest of Al Hudayah in Yemen, and multiple small boats were observed approaching the scene.
