Recently, Sea-Intelligence released the May on-schedule data. Among the major shipping companies and alliances, Gemini Alliance topped the list with 85.4% of the time, followed by Ocean Alliance and MSC with 68.8% and 68.7%, respectively.

Premier League, which previously had a low attendance rate, reached 35% this month, up significantly from 21.1% in April.

From the major routes:

Asia - Northern Europe route: the overall accuracy rate of 66.8%, compared with April increased by 12.4 percentage points, an increase of 18%.

Trans-Pacific (Asia to Hispanic): The Gemini Alliance continued to lead with a 98.5 per cent punctuality rate, slightly lower than the 100 per cent recorded in the previous two months, but the advantage remained clear. The Ocean League and Premier League have an on-boarding rate of 65.2% and 64.2% respectively, while the MSC is only 50%.

On Asia-Mediterranean routes: Gemini Alliance has an on-schedule rate of 79.3%, MSC 73.4%, Premier Alliance 48%, and Ocean Alliance is significantly behind at 30%.

It is worth noting that the proportion of departures from major hub ports in northern Europe is on the decline. According to Sea-Intelligence, between February and March this year, the jump rate from five ports - Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Hamburg and Le Havre - was as high as 13 per cent, close to its peak during the epidemic, but fell to 9 per cent in April and 7 per cent in May.

However, the port dumps are still under significant pressure. According to Dentsu, the utilization rate of some of the terminals in Antwerp is over 90%, while the utilization rates in Rotterdam, Bremen Hafen and Hamburg remain between 80% and 85%. It is widely believed in the industry that when the utilisation rate of the stack exceeds 75%, port operations will face serious congestion risks.
