The shipping logistics of this country is seriously damaged! The port is closed! Road interrupted!
Nov 05,2024

Spain has recently suffered a once-in-a-century storm disaster, bringing unprecedented challenges to local residents and international trade. "Nation" and other Spanish media have reported that this natural disaster, which was called the most serious natural disaster in modern history by the meteorological department, not only caused floods, but also caused traffic paralysis and logistics interruption.

The Port of Valencia, one of Spain's largest container ports, was hit hard by the storm. Heavy rains and flooding forced the closure of ports, brought all maritime traffic to a standstill and severely affected shipping and logistics activities. Other important ports, such as the Port of Sagunto, have not been spared, facing a halt to maritime traffic and disruptions to shipping.
Road closures and flooded railways in the area around the port of Valencia have made transport more difficult. Across the country, 150 roads were interrupted by heavy rains, seriously affecting the flow of people and materials. The high-speed rail link between Madrid and Valencia was also forced to stop operating for at least 15 days, which is a serious obstacle to the logistics and supply chain industry that relies on rapid transportation networks.

The storm also caused air traffic chaos. Thirty flights at Valencia Airport had to be diverted, and airports in Madrid, Barcelona and other places were also affected to varying degrees.
The disaster in the Valencia Autonomous Region was particularly tragic. The infrastructure was severely damaged, a large number of vehicles were washed away, the roads were blocked, and the rescue and material delivery work was extremely difficult. As of November 3, the death toll had risen to 211 and was expected to rise.
This storm, known as "Dana", is caused by colder air passing through the warm Mediterranean Sea, causing atmospheric instability and bringing heavy rainfall. Experts have analyzed that rising temperatures in the Mediterranean and warmer, more humid atmospheric conditions may cause such extreme events to occur more frequently.

In the face of the grim situation, the Spanish government acted quickly, sending military and police personnel, as well as rescue vehicles and helicopters to participate in the disaster relief. The Government has pledged to provide all necessary resources to meet the urgent needs of the affected areas and to embark on reconstruction efforts.
The storm brought a deep disaster to Spain, but also to the international trade and logistics brought great challenges.
