Rising! Maersk: Multiple routes levy PSS, up to $2000!!

Recently, the shipping industry in the off-season abnormal price hikes, the Far East to South America route freight rates rose sharply in two weeks, the cumulative increase of up to 32.78. At the same time, freight rates on routes from Asia to Africa are also on the rise. Head shipping companies such as Maersk, Dafei, Hapgloyd and others have issued price increase letters, some routes rose nearly 70%, resulting in further rise in shipping costs.

In the face of rapidly rising freight rates on South American routes, major shipping companies such as Dafei Shipping, COSCO Shipping, OOCL, Evergreen Shipping, Taiping Shipping and Yangming Shipping have taken action to optimize existing Latin American routes or jointly open new routes to cope with market changes and meet the growing demand for freight.

Maersk to impose South America East peak season surcharge PSS

On April 25, Maersk's official website issued a notice to revise (upgrade) the peak season surcharge (PSS) for all dry containers from Far East Asia (excluding Taiwan, China) to the east coast of South America, with an effective date of May 1 to May 31, 2024; Vietnam to the east coast of South America is valid from May 8 to May 31, 2024; Taiwan, China to the east coast of South America is valid from May 23 to May 31, 2024.The 20-foot dry box is $1000, and the 40-foot and 45-foot dry boxes are $2000.

Maersk to impose a non-peak season surcharge PSS

On April 24, Maersk's official website issued a notice that from April 29, 2024, the peak season surcharge (PSS) will be levied from China and Hong Kong to Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Namibia, Central African Republic and Chad. The 20-foot dry box is $700, and the 40-foot and 45-foot dry boxes are $1000.

Maersk to impose West African peak season surcharge PSS

On April 22, Maersk's official website issued a notice, starting from April 29, 2024, the peak season surcharge (PSS) will be levied from China to Senegal, Guinea, Mauritania, Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cape Verde Island, and Mali. The 20-foot dry box is $700, and the 40-foot and 45-foot dry boxes are $1400.

Maersk levies peak season surcharge for India-Pakistan route PSS

On April 25, Maersk's official website issued a notice that from May 1, 2024, the peak season surcharge PSS will be introduced for all containers from North China, southern South Korea to Jawaharlal Nehru, Mundra, Pipavif and Pakistan. All types $750 per container.
