What certifications are required for 3C products to be exported to the United States

3C products "3C products", is a general term for computer, communication and consumer electronic products, also known as "information appliances". For example, computers, tablet computers, mobile phones, mice, Bluetooth headsets, wireless portable audio, data cables, power banks, smart watches, etc.

Take Bluetooth headset as an exampleThe product should be divided into two parts, one part is the headset part, and the other part is the charging box part.
The earphone part has wireless function, which needs to be done according to the test part of relevant wireless standards. FCC certification needs to meet the FCC-ID, in addition to wireless requirements, headphones also need to meet the corresponding safety regulations and EMC requirements. Another part of the charging box can be done according to the charger standard, that is, EMC and safety testing requirements.
Test standard content:
The charging box does EMC, and the Bluetooth headset itself does wireless (FCC-ID) and EMC.
Non-mandatory UL certification/ETL recommends that customers do it according to the degree of market recognition.

1. FCC certification
FCC certification refers to the United States Federal Communications Commission (Federal Communications Commission, referred to as the FCC) for the certification of electronic products. FCC certification is a regulatory requirement that makes certification mandatory for electronic devices and radio equipment sold in the United States.
The purpose of this certification is to ensure that the equipment does not interfere with telecommunications networks and other electronic equipment during operation, while ensuring that the electromagnetic emissions of the equipment during use comply with FCC standards. FCC certification is a necessary procedure for electronic products and radio equipment that need to be sold in the U.S. market.
2. FCC ID Certification
FCC is a compulsory certification in the United States. There are two certification methods, namely FCC ID and FCC SDOC. Products with wireless transmission function are FCC ID and others are FCC SDOC. If wireless electronic products are exported to the United States, FCC-ID certification is required. The United States Telecommunications Certification Authority (TCB) will review the samples and test data submitted by the requester, if it meets the FCC certification standard, the device will be authorized with an FCC ID number. With this ID, Bluetooth headsets can be sold smoothly through customs to the United States.3. EMC certification
EMC certification is the standard of electromagnetic compatibility (Electro Magnetic Compatibility), which is defined as "the ability of equipment and systems to work normally in their electromagnetic environment and not to constitute an unbearable electromagnetic disturbance of anything in the environment". The definition includes two aspects.
First of all, the equipment should be able to work normally in a certain electromagnetic environment, that is, the equipment should have a certain degree of electromagnetic immunity (EMS); secondly, the electromagnetic disturbance generated by the equipment itself can not have too much impact on other electronic products, namely electromagnetic disturbance (EMI).
4.UL certification
UL certification in the United States is a non-mandatory certification, mainly product safety performance testing and certification. For sellers or retailers, UL certification is the basis for consumers' trust in product quality. Although it is not a mandatory requirement, Amazon recently requires UL certification for all strong power products, otherwise there will be a risk of products being removed from the shelves.
