Whether the peak shipping season will arrive in the second half of the year is not determined, but major shipping companies have already issued peak season surcharge notices, and this wave of fee increases cannot be ignored.
Recently, major shipping companies have announced a new round of tariff increases, which cover almost all major routes other than the US, including Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, Oceania and India, Pakistan and South Asia. Maersk, the shipping market wind gauge, was the first to issue a price increase notice. Here are the details:
Asia Europe High Season Surcharge PSS
Entry into force: 1 August 2025
Growth:
20 foot cabinets (including dry and cold cabinets): $250 increase
40 and 45 foot cabinets (including dry and cold cabinets): $500 increase
Scope of application: Far East Asia including China to Northern Europe (E1W FEA to NEUR)
Asia Mediterranean High Season Surcharge PSS
Effective date: 28 July 2025
Growth:
Türkiye, Egypt, Israel, Greece and Ukraine:
20 foot cabinets (with dry and cold cabinets): $50
40 and 45 foot cabinets (including dry and cold cabinets): $100
Other Mediterranean ports:
20 foot cabinets (with dry and cold cabinets): $250
40 and 45 foot cabinets (including dry and cold cabinets): $500
Asia Africa High Season Surcharge PSS
Date of entry into force:
Beginning August 1: Far East to Mozambique, Madagascar, Seychelles, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Beginning 28 July: Far East to South Africa, Mauritius
Growth:
South Africa, Mauritius:
20 foot cabinet: $1000
40 foot cabinet: $1,600
Other African regions:
20 foot cabinet: $500
40 and 45 foot cabinets: $1,000
Asia Oceania High Season Surcharge PSS
Date of entry into force:
From 4 August: partial ports of origin
Starting August 25: Some destinations
Growth:
20 foot cabinet: $20,300
40 foot cabinet: $400,600
Asia India, Pakistan, etc. South Asia High Season Surcharge PSS
Entry into force: 1 August 2025
Growth:
Each cabinet (with 20 x 40 x Cabinets): $200
Scope of application: from China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines, Brunei, South Korea and Hong Kong, Taiwan Province of China, goods to southern to northwest India (Jawaharlal Nehru, India, Pippawav, India, Mundra, India), Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives
