In a cabinet meeting, US President Trump made a speech, clearly expressing that the US expects to reach a trade agreement with China, and is full of confidence in the friendly relationship between the two sides.

When talking about the impact of tariffs, Trump frankly said that difficulties are inevitable during the economic transformation. He said, "We will first closely observe the situation in China. Undoubtedly, we are eager to reach an agreement. I firmly believe that we can coexist amicably. In a sense, China has always been our long-term partner, and I believe that we will eventually reach a mutually beneficial agreement. I am full of expectations."

However, on April 10, 2025, the US government announced that it would further increase the "equivalent tariff" rate on Chinese goods exported to the United States to 125%.

This move seriously violates international economic and trade rules, completely deviates from basic economic laws and common sense, and is undoubtedly a typical act of unilateral bullying and coercion.

In response to the unreasonable actions of the United States, China quickly responded. Since April 12, 2025, China has adjusted the tariff measures on imported goods from the United States, raising the tariff rate from 84% to 125%. Given the current tariff level, US exports to China have almost lost the possibility of market acceptance.

If the United States continues to impose tariffs on Chinese goods exported to the United States, China will no longer pay attention.

Trade cooperation should be based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and win-win, and frequent tariff increases are not only not conducive to the economic development of both sides, but also will have an impact on the global economic order. It is hoped that both sides can return to rationality and seek ways to properly solve the problem through equal dialogue and consultation.
