The founding of the party, that is, the founding of the Communist Party of China day. After the founding of the Communist Party of China on July 23, 1921, under the brutal rule of the reactionary warlord government, it could only be in a secret state and there was no environment for open activities. During the period of the Great Revolution, the Party was busy with the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, carrying out the worker-peasant movement and supporting the Northern Expedition, and had no conditions to commemorate the birth of the Party. The celebration of July 1 as the birthday anniversary of the Communist Party of China was proposed by Comrade Mao Zedong in May 1938.

In 1941, the CPC Central Committee decided to set July 1, 1921 as the founding day of the Communist Party of China. Since then, on July 1 every year, the whole party will warmly celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the party.

The Origin of the July 1 Party Building Festival

The anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China is the first day of July in the Gregorian calendar every year. After the victory of the October Revolution in Russia in 1917, Marxism quickly spread to our country. After the "May Fourth" patriotic movement, the revolutionary intellectuals who were the first to accept Marxism-Leninism successively set up communist groups in various places to promote Marxism-Leninism and engage in the labor movement. With the active help of the Comintern led by Lenin, in July 1921, local communist groups sent representatives to Shanghai to hold the first Congress of the Communist Party of China. After being discovered by imperialist spies, the meeting was transferred to a ship in Nanhu Lake, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. Thirteen people, representing 57 party members from all walks of life across the country, attended the meeting. Also attending the meeting were Marin, a representative of the Communist International, and Nikolski, a representative of the Red Workers International. The congress adopted the party's constitution, elected the general secretary, and proclaimed the founding of the Communist Party of China. Since then, a completely new type of unified working-class party has emerged in China with communism as its purpose and Marxism-Leninism as its guide to action.

The birth of the Communist Party of China opened up a new era in the development of Chinese history and gave a new look to the Chinese revolution. During the Anti-Japanese War, due to the difficult environment, it was impossible to check the exact date of the "First National Congress". Therefore, in 1941, the Party Central Committee decided to hold the "First National Congress". Indeed, July 1, the first day of July 1921, was the party's birthday and anniversary.
