Maersk Announces: Resuming Booking!
May 23,2024
On May 20, local time, the container ship "Dali" that crashed into the Baltimore Bridge in the United States has successfully re-floated and was towed out of the main channel, and then led to the local maritime terminal. This event marks a crucial step forward in the restoration of the Port of Baltimore to full operations.
A few days ago, Maersk announced the resumption of new bookings at the Port of East Baltimore.

Open booking services:
-
Import to BAL - Dubai Express 421n – ETA June 1 (departing Cartagena, CO - May 19; departing Manzanillo, PA – May 20) -
Export from BAL - Dubai Express 422S – ETD June 1
-
Import to BAL – Nele Maersk 417N –ETA June 11 (departing Cape Town, SA – May 23) -
Export from BAL – Nele Maersk 422S – ETD June 11

At present, due to the unstable situation in the Port of Baltimore, the transatlantic TP12 service and the Baltimore export booking have not been reopened. The decision is based on continued attention to the condition of the waterways deployed on these services, and the booking service will reopen as soon as more relevant information becomes available.
For goods imported from Asia to Baltimore, although currently acceptable, the specific level of acceptance will depend on the availability of space. At the same time, bookings for AGAS and AMEX services are now open, as vessels from both services are able to operate using the Fort Mchenry Limited Access, which is currently unavailable to vessels from other trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic services.
Maersk cautioned that the situation at the Port of Baltimore remains unstable and that the feasibility of bookings depends on the availability of shipping space. In addition, the opening of the Port of Baltimore will depend on the timetable for the re-floating of the "Dali" wheel and the progress of the reopening of the four temporary passages that were previously closed. If time or conditions do not allow the ship to dock in Baltimore, it may be reattached to other East American ports.
