"We regret to inform you that due to recent security developments around the Red Sea, AR1 services will be temporarily suspended until further notice. This decision is a proactive measure to prioritize the safety of our crews, vessels and your cargo," ONE said in a January 25 customer advisory.

"We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but the suspension is a precautionary measure out of concern for security concerns in the area. We are closely monitoring developments and will resume AR1 service as soon as it is deemed safe for vessels to operate in the area."

AR1 services are provided by an alliance of Ocean Network Express (ONE), Hapagloit, Yangming and HMM, connecting ports in Northeast and Southeast Asia with the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, the port of Aqaba in Jordan and the port of Sukona in Egypt.

AR1 route service: Busan-Shanghai-Ningbo-Shekou-Singapore-Port Klang-Jeddah-Aqaba-Sukona-Jeddah-Singapore-Busan.

The channel runs from Port Klang through the Cape of Good Hope to the last port of call in Asia, rather than directly to the Red Sea, which is particularly long compared to the entire voyage and adds a transit point through the Suez Canal. Of the other four flights on the route, one will be popular, the other three will pass through the good lookout and three will be unloaded in Singapore.

"Due to the dynamic situation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, we are temporarily suspending the Asia-Red Sea (AR1) service until further notice and are currently studying alternative routes to serve the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden ports, which will be announced shortly. Services through the Suez Canal will resume when the safety of the vessel, its crew and its cargo is assured.
