Import and export data release: China's foreign trade exports hit a new high in 2023

Recently, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference. The relevant person in charge of the General Administration of Customs introduced that the total import and export value of my country's goods trade in 2023 was 41.76 trillion billion yuan, which was better than expected and achieved the goal of promoting stability and quality improvement.
According to customs statistics, in 2023, the total value of China's import and export of goods trade was 41.76 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 0.2 percent over the same period last year. Among them, exports were 23.77 trillion yuan, up 0.6 percent, while imports were 17.99 trillion yuan, down 0.3 percent.
Customs statistics show that in 2023, my country's imports and exports to countries jointly building the "Belt and Road" will be 19.47 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 2.8 percent, accounting for 46.6 percent of the total import and export value, an increase of 1.2 percentage points.
Imports and exports to Latin America and Africa were 3.44 trillion yuan and 1.98 trillion yuan respectively, up 6.8 per cent and 7.1 per cent respectively. In the fourth quarter, imports and exports to the European Union and the United States rebounded, with imports and exports of 5.51 trillion yuan and 4.67 trillion yuan respectively, accounting for 13.2 percent and 11.2 percent respectively.
In 2023, China's foreign trade business entities with import and export records exceeded 600000 for the first time. Among them, there were 556000 private enterprises, with a total import and export of 22.36 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 6.3 percent, accounting for 53.5 percent of the total import and export value, an increase of 3.1 percentage points.
New Three Sample Exports Record
On the export side, the competitive advantage of products is solid, and export momentum is more abundant and active. In 2023, China exported 13.92 trillion billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 2.9 percent, accounting for 58.6 percent of the total export value.
Among them, "new three" products such as electric manned vehicles, high-performance lithium-ion batteries and high-efficiency solar cells totaled 1.06 trillion billion yuan, breaking through the trillion mark for the first time, an increase of 29.9 percent.
At present, one out of every three vehicles exported by China is an advanced electric manned vehicle, and 1.773 million vehicles are exported in the whole year, an increase of 67.1, which has made an important contribution to the global green and low-carbon transformation. High-level opening-up has been steadily advancing, and the development of new platforms and new formats has a good momentum.
In 2023, the number of pilot free trade zones in China has expanded to 22, with a total import and export of 7.67 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 2.7 percent, accounting for 18.4 percent of the total import and export value. The annual import and export of Hainan Free Trade Port has maintained double-digit growth for three consecutive years. Preliminary statistics show that China's cross-border e-commerce import and export 2.38 trillion yuan in 2023, an increase of 15.6.
