On the evening of May 5 (Friday), Beijing time,The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that the new crown outbreak no longer constitutes a "public health emergency of international concern".
It has been 1191 days since the WHO declared the new crown outbreak a "public health emergency of international concern" on 30 January 2020. This is the Zui high-level alert that WHO can issue under the International Health Regulations.
The WHO International Health Regulations Emergency Committee held its 15th meeting on the new crown epidemic on Thursday, May 4, Geneva time, and the members of the expert group recommended to WHO Director-General Tan Desai that the new crown epidemic be declared an end as a "public health emergency of international concern", which Tan Desai accepted.

WHO: Risk of new variants still exists
WHO Director-General Tan Desai said, "I am hopeful that the era of the new crown epidemic as a global health emergency is over, but this does not mean the end of the new crown epidemic as a global health threat."
"I emphasize that this is not a hasty decision, a decision that was made after a period of careful consideration, after planning, and on the basis of a careful analysis of the data. If necessary, if the new crown epidemic puts our world at risk, I will not hesitate to call again experts to reassess the situation."
Tan Desai added. For more than a year, the neo-crowning epidemic has been on a downward trend, and most countries/regions have returned to the state of life before the neo-crowning outbreak.
At a WHO press conference, Tedros said, "The new coronavirus has changed our world and it has changed us. The new coronavirus epidemic is not just a health crisis, it has caused severe economic damage, reduced global GDP by trillions of dollars, disrupted global tourism and trade, led to the closure of many businesses and plunged millions of people into poverty."
He also warned countries not to let down their guard and that the risk of new variants of the new coronavirus remained.

The WHO says the emergency phase of the new crown outbreak is over, but the pandemic has not gone away and cases of zui near Southeast Asia and the Middle East have begun to surge. To date, thousands of people are still dying every week from new coronavirus infections.
According to the WHO, more than 17000 new coronavirus-related deaths have been reported worldwide in the past month. U.S. federal data also show that in the week ending April 26 this year, about 1050 new coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the United States, most of them elderly or people with immune system diseases.
hong de xiaobian also learned: the associated press reported that,In the United States, the public health emergency issued in response to the new crown outbreak will end on May 11.At that time, measures to deal with the pandemic, including vaccine authorization, will come to an end, full insurance coverage for new coronavirus testing will no longer be mandatory, and the CDC will not have the right to collect some testing and vaccination data.
In Europe, many countries, including Germany, France and the United Kingdom, lifted many of their regulations against the new crown epidemic last year.
